Creating a Mobile Application in OBIEE 12c for Tablet

Step 1: Sign in to OBIEE 12c providing your credentials.

Step 2: Then you will see the home page of Oracle Business Intelligence where you can select the mobile application from the sidebar.

Step 3: Or you can create a new mob app by clicking on the New >Mobile App.

Step 5: In the Create App Dialog box select for which device you want to create the application to run. And click on next.

Step 6: Then select the data source from which you want to make the analysis for the app. Here you can choose the data source to be from the BI subject area or BI Publisher Data Model or from a Excel file. Click save.

Step 7: In the save as dialog box, select the destination where you want to save your application. Click OK.

Step 8: Then you will be able to see your design page. This is the page where you can set the layout of your application so as to show in the selected mobile device after publishing.Here you can see the data source in the left hand side bar. Above that you can see the name(highlighted) that you gave to the application. In the center you can see the ‘+’ above then you can choose the components or plugins to be put to the layout. You can also add a background image to the Cover Page.

Step 9: You can now Change the name of your 1st page by double-clicking on the title or header. This will be your cover page. You can also add a background image if you please.

Step 10: Add a new page to the app. Click on the new page and select the layout for the page as tile.

Step 11: Now you can start adding the components and then the data to the app to create the layout in which you want to add the data.

In the Insert Frame dialog box, specify the row and column number.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 12: Add the facts and dimensions from the data source to the layout in the designer.

Step 13: Add the tiles component to the page. after adding the page looks like the snapshot below. You can also add Section by which you want to show the contents repeated. Here we have added Product type so, the contents will be repeated by the Product type.

Step 14: Now you can add the charts or analysis to the tiles. Add a chart view to the top left tile.

Step 15: Chart the type of the chart from the chart tab in the right side pane.

Step 16: Now you can add the data to the chart. Revenue is added to the value and the Per Name Qtr is added to the Label from the data source from the left side panel. Then we can see the data and then we can see the line chart accordingly.

Step 17: To add the stoplight formatting, select the first tile and then click Stoplight present in the Tile tab in the right side pane.

Step 18: In the Stoplight dialog enter the following:
1. Select Values.
2. For the Measure field select Revenue.
3. For the Formula select Summation.
4. In the Less Than entry box enter 100000.
5. In the Greater Than entry box enter 500000.

Then click OK. The conditional formatting does not display during design time, but you can see the effects when you preview.

Step 19: The final task on this page is to change the page title. Double-click the text “Page 2” on the page icon in the left column. Update the text to “Revenue Analysis”.

Step 20: Click the Preview toolbar button and select Preview.

Your app is displayed in the tablet simulator.

Step 21: To view the second page of your app, click the page menu icon in the upper left corner, then click the page title Revenue Analysis.

Step 22: Notice the Information icon in the upper right corner. Click the icon to see the stoplight conditions you applied. Then, Click Edit Layout to return to the designer.

Step 23: Create the Sub-page.

The next page of your app is a detail page of the Revenue Analysis page. When you tap one of the Product Type tiles on your first page, a detail page opens to show detail information filtered for the Product Type that was tapped. To create the master-detail relationship, simply add a sub-page to the Revenue Analysis page.

Click on the new page and then select the 3 Cells from the sub-page.

Step 24: Add a vertical bar chart to the first cell then add revenue to the values and order status to the series.

Step 25: Then add a pie chart to the second cell and add the revenue and the organisation name to the values and series respectively.

Step 26:  Add a pivot table by clicking on the ‘+’ icon above. Then  Add the values from the data source to the cell.

Step 28: Then you rename the sub-page as “Detail”.

Step 29: Preview Your App on a Mobile Device. Click Preview and then click On Mobile. Use your tablet’s QR code reader to obtain the URL to open your app in your tablet browser. Or, alternatively, copy the URL and e-mail it to your mobile device to open it.

Step 30: You can click on the  menu option to go to other pages in the app. This in the highlighted area and it will take you to the menu and you can navigate to the page.

Step 31: Navigate to the sub-page by clicking on the any of the contents.

Step 32: Click on share and use your mobile device to scan the QR code and run it in your mobile device as an app.
