Developing Repository [Physical Layer] : BI Sample

STEP 1: NEW REPOSITORY
Open BI Administration Tool to develop a Repository :

STEP 2: REPOSITORY INFORMATION
Enter a NAME for new repository creation.
Check IMPORT METADATA as YES.
Enter REPOSITORY password and RETYPE PASSWORD.

STEP 3: DATA SOURCE CREATION
Enter CONNECTION TYPE,DATA SOURCE NAME,USER NAME and PASSWORD.

STEP 4: METADATA TYPES SELECTION
Select TABLES,KEYS and FOREIGN KEYS
Select NEXT.

STEP 5: METADATA OBJECTS SELECTION
Drag & drop objects from DATA SOURCE VIEW to REPOSITORY VIEW 
as shown in the below screen shot:
Select FINISH.
The imported data will appear in the PHYSICAL LAYER.

STEP 6:
Update All Row Counts by following the below screen shots:

After updating:
> Place the cursor on the objects,row counts will be displayed.
> Right Click on the object and select VIEW DATA(updated data will appear).

STEP 7:
Right click on the object and select ALIAS...

STEP 8:
Rename the object and enter description.

STEP 9:
Repeat STEP 8 and create ALIAS for all objects as shown in the screen shot:

STEP 10: CREATE KEYS AND JOINS
Select D1 Time,D2 Product,D3 Customers,D4 Address and F1 Revenue
right click and select PHYSICAL DIAGRAM > SELECT OBJECTS ONLY.

STEP 11: Join Facts with Dimension
A. Join F1 Revenue(BILL_DAY_DT) with D1 Time(CALENDAR_DATE).
Click OK.

B. Join F1 Revenue(PROD_KEY) with D2 Product(PROD_KEY).
Click OK.

C. Join F1 Revenue(CUST_KEY) with D3 Customers(CUST_KEY).
Click OK.

D. Join D3 Customers(ADDRESS_KEY) with D4 Address(ADDRESS_KEY).
Click OK.

Now the PHYSICAL LAYER is ready to use.
