Developing Repository [BI SAMPLE] : Physical Layer

BI SAMPLE : Physical Layer

STEP : 1

  • Run Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition as Administrator.
  • Go to File >> New Repository


  • Create New Repository named as BISAMPLE, Provide the repository Username and Password.


  • Choose the connection type as OCI 10g/11g, Provide the name of the data base in the Data Source Name Field.
  • Enter the schema Username and Password.


  • Make sure that Check box next to Table, Keys and Foreign Keys are checked.
  • click on Next.


  • Select SAMP_ADDRESSESS_D, SAMP_CUSTOMER_D, SAMP_PRODUCTS_D, SAMP_REVENUE_D, SAMP_TIME_DAY_D from the Data Source View and add them to the Repository View.


  • Click on Finish.
  • Go to Tools >> Update All Row Counts.



  • Right click on SAMP_TIME_DAY_D, Go to New Object >> Alias


  • Name the Alias as D1 Time.


  • Similarly Create Alias For the remaining tables.SAMP_PRODUCT_D -> D2 ProductSAMP_CUSTOMERS_D -> D3 CustomersSAMP_ADDRESSES_D -> D4 AddressSAMP_REVENUE_F -> F1 Revenue


  • Select all the Alias and right click.
  • Go to Physical Diagram >> Selected Object(s) only.


  • All the selected tables must appear on the Physical Diagram window.
  • Select on the Add New Join Option on the toolbar.
  • First click on F1 Revenue and then on D1 time. This create a link between the tables.
  • Select the column CALENDAR_DATE from D1 Time and BILL_DAY_DT from F1 Revenue.
  • Click on ok.


  • Similarly join the tables F1 Revenue and D2 product by selecting PROD_KEY column from both the tables.


  • Join the F1 Revenue and D3 Customer tables by selecting CUST_KEY  column from both the tables.


  • Join the D3 Customer and D4 Address tables by selecting ADDRESS_KEY column from both the tables.



  • The next step in the development of repository is creation of Business Model and Mapping.
